Mid-Point Season Review

After a bit of a helter-skelter first half to the season, with a few teething problems getting things settled and the uncertainty of a few fixtures here and there, it appears we finally got things sorted and on track for a few weeks. With games coming in thick and fast and everyone arranging on the chat, not to mention the new website, it seemed very optimistic for the season ahead.

However, the mid-point of the season seems to have left a few more questions than answers both on and off the pitch. With a recent drop-out in Leicester City and the arrival of both the PS5 and FIFA 21, the league looks to have come across its first real stumbling block. It will be up to all managers too much in for the next couple of months for the league's very survival!

At the top

On the pitch, things couldn't be any more exciting for all the right reasons. West Ham currently top the table in what many people consider to be a very unexpected turn of events. Arguably even more unlikely is the fact that lowly Burnley are the team to second them.

Finishing off the top four things start to make a bit more sense as both Tottenham and Liverpool are nipping at the heels of the league leaders and possess a game in hand. After 10 games we could very well see 1 point separating 4 teams. Watford closes the gap also on 22 points but have had that extra game from the top teams.

Chelsea could still yet make a big push having only played 8 games so far this season, winning those extra games in hand could see them catapult to the top of the table with 26.

In the middle

The mid-table looks just as exciting as many teams still have that Champions league spot to contend for. Crystal Palace and Newcastle have a couple of games in hand and could still mount a late push for Europe's most coveted prize.

Rounding off

At the foot of the table, we also see a real battle on our hands. While Man City seemingly have a hand firmly grasped around the wooden spoon, they still have plenty of opportunity to pull themselves off the floor with Southampton on the same amount of points and Wolves 3 points ahead with a game extra played.

Manchester United and Everton have also taken part.

Indeed, if the second half of the season features as many twists and turns as the first then we are in for a wild ride heading into the home straight.

With the league seemingly splitting into two for Season 2, this is the first and only opportunity until Season 3 that all teams and managers can make a real name for themselves, lets hope unlike Arsenal and Leicester it's for the right reasons!

Leicester City and Juventus Part Company With Head Coach

Shocking scenes at the King Power Stadium over the weekend as Leicester City and Juventus have announced they have parted company with their head coach, Lewis Johnson, following Juve's knockout of the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool. Many around the FIFA footballing world were surprised by the news and many more looked towards the future of the league now Leicester have no option but to forfeit their Premier League season.

The Foxes remaining fixtures have defaulted to 1-0 defeats and all previous matches have been amended to reflect the same scorelines. This has had a huge impact on the Premier League table as we now see Tottenham Hotspur top the table and a few teams shuffle up a position in the bottom half.

The Premier League Commission has ensured that the season will carry on as normal.

OOC: Bit of a disappointing update today lads, not one I was expecting to write but hey ho. I think Leicester would have been one of the better teams to manage in the league. Juventus with Ronaldo obviously would have been brilliant too for many. The league carries on though so any concerns, don't hesitate to bring them up in the chat. Ta.

Welcome - Inaugral Season

Now lads,

Welcome to the new FIFA Championship website. You will all already have access to the Facebook Messenger group chat but this is hopefully going to provide a central point for all the FIFA information.

The website name has been generated as is due to loads of different iterations not being available and this is the only one I could think of, suggestions welcome.

The site is currently split into 3 sections with buttons at the top:

  • Premier League
  • Champions League
  • Europa League
Each section will show the current league/cup table along with fixtures and results, I will be updating it as frequently as possible.

If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see on the site, let me know. I'm hoping it can be an ever-evolving thing that can give a plethora of info. The current plan is to get the following updated:

Short Term:

  • All fixtures and results updated for Premier League
  • More aesthetically pleasing European Cup format (not just results table)
  • Champions League Cup and fixtures/results added
  • Europa League Cup and fixtures/results added
  • Add in the format/guidelines for next season as there are those changes we talked about previously
Long Term:
  • Player pages so you can see your own individual fixtures/results at a glance
  • Any player suggestions for new features

Going forward, I will pop the link to this website instead of constant images, it just means that he chat won't get flooded with information and just the one message gets sent out. Meaning the chat can be used for just the banter it's intended for.

Again I can't stress enough, please feel free to give any ideas or suggestions for things you would like to see no matter how big or small you think and I will do my best to see what I can do.

Cheers all,
Fox
